Agent tools

JobJam exposes 13 WebMCP tools to a browser agent. This page reports whether this browser can see them.

Checking this browser

7 tools are read only and an agent may call them freely. 3 spend credits or assert a real-world fact, and each one stops for your approval before it does anything. No tool submits an application to an employer.

search_jobs
Read only

Search live job postings on JobJam. Filters the visible job board in the page as it runs, so the user sees the same results. Returns matching roles with company, location, remote policy, seniority and tech stack. Use this before any tool that needs a jobId.

Arguments: query, country, city, region, remote, seniority, stack, company, postedSince, minSalary, limit

get_job_details
Read only

Get the full posting for one job, including the complete job description text. Selects that job in the visible board. Call this before evaluating fit, so the evaluation sees the real requirements.

Arguments: jobId, includeDescription

get_my_profile
Read only

Get the signed-in user's JobJam profile and the skills, seniority and location derived from their resume. Call this first when the user asks for roles that fit them, so later tools can rank against real data rather than guesses. Returns no resume document text, only the derived signals and basic contact fields.

rank_jobs_for_me
Read only

Rank jobs against the signed-in user's resume and return them best first, with a per-job explanation of why. This is JobJam's fast deterministic matcher: it scores stack overlap, seniority band and location, costs nothing, and is instant. Use it to shortlist. For a deep AI evaluation of one job with an ATS score, use evaluate_job_fit instead, which spends a credit and needs approval.

Arguments: jobIds

get_credit_balance
Read only

Check how many credits the signed-in user has left. Call this before proposing evaluate_job_fit (needs 1 evaluation credit) or prepare_application (needs 1 evaluation, 1 optimization and 1 cover letter), so you can tell them they are short instead of letting the action fail after they approve it.

get_apply_instructions
Read only

Explain how the user applies for a job, and return the employer's official application URL. Call this whenever the user asks you to apply, submit or send an application. JobJam does not submit applications on anyone's behalf, so no tool can do that; this returns the link for the user to complete themselves, and mark_job_applied records it afterwards.

Arguments: jobId

save_job
Changes data

Bookmark a job to the signed-in user's saved list. The bookmark appears immediately in the page. Reversible with unsave_job, spends no credits, and is safe to call repeatedly: saving an already-saved job succeeds without creating a duplicate.

Arguments: jobId

unsave_job
Changes data

Remove a job from the signed-in user's saved list. Reversible with save_job. Does not delete any evaluation or application already made for that job.

Arguments: jobId

list_saved_jobs
Read only

List the signed-in user's saved jobs, with any evaluation score and application status already recorded for each.

create_profile_from_resume
Changes data

Create the user's JobJam profile from their resume text and set that resume as their base resume. Call this when get_my_profile reports hasResume: false, or when any tool fails with NO_RESUME. Ask the user to paste their resume as plain text first. Spends no credits, but requires approval because it creates their profile, and the free plan allows only one.

Arguments: resumeText, jobFocus, profileName

evaluate_job_fit
Needs approval

Run JobJam's full AI evaluation of the user's resume against one job. Returns an ATS score out of 100, matched and missing skills, and concrete recommendations, and files the result as a draft application in their tracker. SPENDS ONE EVALUATION CREDIT and requires the user to approve a dialog in the page. Shortlist with rank_jobs_for_me first: it is free, and this should be reserved for jobs the user is seriously considering.

Arguments: jobId

prepare_application
Needs approval

Prepare a complete application for one job: evaluate fit, rewrite the user's resume against the posting, and draft a tailored cover letter. Everything is saved to their tracker for review. SPENDS THREE CREDITS (one evaluation, one optimization, one cover letter) and requires the user to approve a dialog in the page. Takes up to two minutes. This does NOT submit anything to the employer.

Arguments: jobId, tone, length

mark_job_applied
Needs approval

Record that the user has applied for a job on the employer site. This only updates JobJam's tracker: it asserts a real-world fact and does NOT send anything to the employer. Requires approval. Only call this when the user has told you they actually applied.

Arguments: jobId
